How to Dissolve Glue on Fabric

Glue stains are among the most difficult to remove from any surface because of glue's adhesive properties. It not only spills onto things but also bonds to them. Glue that is still tacky is difficult to manage using traditional cleaning methods, and dried glue is a challenge to lift. For either type of mess, there is a household product available that will safely and effectively dissolve glue from your fabrics.

Things You'll Need

• Adhesive remover
• Microfiber cloth

Instructions

1. Choose a general purpose adhesive solvent that isn't harmful to fabrics. Most brands available at supermarkets and home imrpovement stores are suitable for all household and outdoor surfaces, including furniture and clothing.

2. Apply the solution properly according to the directions on the product label. Some brands must be sprayed or poured onto the glue stain, while others should first be applied to a rag or cloth.

3. Wait the instructed length of time. This allows the solvent to loosen the adhesive for easy removal.

4. WIpe the glue stain until it is complete lifted. Only a light amount of pressure with a microfiber cloth is necessary, so as not to damage or tear the fabric.

5. Wash the fabric with an appropriate household cleaner or detergent for a thorough removal of any glue remains or adhesive solvent.
