How to Make a Paper King Tut Crown
King Tut, one of Egypt's youngest rulers, is famous for the near perfect condition that his tomb was found in. Making a paper crown replica of a pharaoh's head piece just requires a bit of creativity and imagination. As kings had many crowns, the crown that you will replicate in paper format is the one that was found on Tut's mummified body and was also most likely worn during his lifetime on a day to day basis.

Steps

1
Cut out a 2-inch-wide rectangular strip from your construction paper to fit the circumference of your head. This will be the main headband of the crown. Check the length by putting the strip of paper around the crown of your head to fit. If it is not long enough, cut another 2-inch-wide strip and attach it to the previous strip with a stapler.
-
2
Color and decorate this strip to your liking. If you are trying to authentically replicate Tut's headpiece, the original crown band was blue and teal with red jewels.
-
-
3
Apply the craft jewels with glue, lining the entire band of the crown in a row.
-
4
Let the band stand and dry for an hour.
-
5
Attach the crown band ends together using your stapler to fit your head snugly and securely.
-
6
Cut out two long 1-inch-wide strips for the headpiece. The length of the pieces is up to you. You can make one longer than the other for authenticity.
-
7
Attach these train pieces to the right-hand side of the crown, just behind where your ear will fall, with the stapler.
-
8
Cut out two 2 inch by 2 inch pieces of construction paper that are shorter than your train pieces and attach them with the stapler to either side of the train pieces on the band of the crown.
-
9
Cut out a 3-inch-wide strip of construction paper for the top part of the crown that will go across the top part of your skull.
-
10
Place the crown on your head and place the strip of paper from one end of the left side of the band to the right side of the band spanning the top part of your head to measure the length needed for this piece.
-
11
Cut the strip to the appropriate length that corresponds with the measurement you just took.
-
12
Use a pencil to make the stencil outline for the ribbon-like design on the band of this piece. Start on one side of the paper making a single line alternating back and forth like a snake to the end of the strip of paper. Then go to the start of the first line and follow this pattern with your pencil on the right side leaving about one to two inches of space in between the lines. You should have a wide curving segment on this band.
-
13
Cut out the excess paper from the outside of both pencil-drawn lines to create the squiggly top band of the crown.
-
14
Attach one end of the top band to the bottom forehead crown piece with a stapler near your left ear. Staple the remaining side to where your right ear falls.

Tips & Warnings
Use glue sparingly and wipe away excess glue as it is difficult to color over the substance once dried.
Scissors are sharp. Make sure your hands are completely out of the way when cutting and always pay attention when using sharp objects.
