How to Change Your Halo 3 Figure

Halo 3 offers a level of character customization well beyond that of the first two installments. With the new ability to change armor types, along with the usual colors, emblems and race modifications, players on Xbox Live have more ways than ever to generate creatively customized characters.

Instructions

Press the "Start" button on the Xbox 360 controller at any menu screen. The only time you can't change your character is during game play, such as during campaign or multiplayer modes. This will open a dialog box with two tabs.

Press "Right" on the control stick or D-pad to move to the "Settings" tab. This will bring up the settings menu where you can change control, screen settings and more.

Scroll down the list with the control stick until you highlight "Appearance" and press the green "A" button on your controller. This will bring up the menu where you can modify your character. There are five ways to modify your character in Halo 3: service tag, armor, emblem, colors and gender.

Click on each individual section to modify your character. "Service tag" changes the tag associated with your character. It appears above your head during team games. "Armor" changes the armor types of your character. You can also change from a Spartan to an Elite in this section. "Emblem" modifies the logo, which is tattooed on your biceps, associated with your character. The "Colors" section allows you to customize all the colors on your character, and "Gender" lets you switch from male to female and vice versa.
