How do I Add Programs to the Dock in a Mac?

Quickly launching your favourite and most used Apple programs is an important step in speeding up your work process. The Dock in Apple's Mac OS X sits at the bottom of the screen with links to the most common programs. As well as the preset Dock programs such as iTunes, Safari and Address Book, you can also add your own programs to the Dock. Adding your own programs allows you to access your preferred programs quickly, without clicking in to Applications, and then selecting the program. You can also add folders to the Dock so that you have quick access to those folders and files.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Applications" folder on the Dock, then locate the program in the "Applications" folder that you want to add to the Dock.

    • 2

Click and drag the program from the Applications folder onto the Dock. Let go and the Application icon will show on the Dock.

    • 3

Click and drag the icon on the Dock to rearrange the programs.

    • 4

Click a program icon that you want to remove and drag it to the desktop, this removes applications from your Dock. This will let you fully customize your Mac OS X Dock.
