How to Develop a Form in Filemaker Pro


WIth the Filemaker Pro application, which is compatible with both PC and Mac computers, you can build dynamic databases to track large amounts of information. Once you have created and compiled a new database in Filemaker Pro, it is time for you to develop forms for data entry and searching functions. When you create a new form in Filemaker, you will get to customize the design of the layout and choose which fields to include.

Things You'll Need

  • PC or Mac computer
  • Filemaker Pro 8 or later
  • Launch the FileMaker Pro application and open the database you want to use when developing the new form.

  • Go to the "View" menu at the top of the window and select "Layout Mode."

  • Go to the "Layouts" menu at the top of the window and select "New Layout/Report.". A pop-up window will open with the various options for your new form.

  • Enter a name for the new form you are developing and then select the "Standard form" option from the list of layout types. Click on the "Next" button when you are done.

  • Highlight the field names on the left side of the window that you want to include on your new form and then click on the "Move" button to add them to the form layout. Click "Next" when you are done.

  • Select one of the preset color themes for your new form and click "Finish" to complete the setup process and begin using your new form.
