Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the fruit. Clean, wash and peel the fruit, where appropriate.

    • 2

Cut the fruit. Use the flower-shaped cookie cutters to slice the fruit into various sizes.

    • 3

Cut the bamboo skewers. Use the scissors to trim the bamboo skewers into various lengths. Keep some of the skewers long without cutting, but also make medium-size and shorter ones. Cut only one end of the skewer so that one end remains pointed.

    • 4

Arrange the flower sticks. Slide a fruit-shaped flower onto each of the bamboo sticks. Use a dab of the frosting to attach blueberry or strawberry centers to the flowers. Green melon chunks can be used to create the look of the flowers' leaves.

    • 5

Cut the floral foam into a piece that is the size and shape of the top of the cake. This will serve as the test area for trying out the bouquet arrangement.

    • 6

Arrange the flowers into a bouquet. Insert the fruit flowers into the floral foam and arrange them to suit your taste.

    • 7

Take a picture of the bouquet on the floral foam. This way, you will be able to more easily recreate the arrangement on top of the wedding cake.

    • 8

Add the fruit bouquet to the wedding cake. Pull the flowers one at a time from the floral foam and wipe the end of the skewer clean with a paper towel or cloth. Use the photo as your guide to reassemble the cake topper on the wedding cake.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep the skewers short enough that they won't show once you have pushed them into the cake. You can also use ribbon to decorate the flower "stems" so that the skewers won't show.
