1
Choose your CDs. The blank multicolored ones you buy in a pack of ten or 15 make for a cute rainbow effect, but also consider using your old discs for a humorous reminder of your junior high music tastes. Think Backstreet Boys.

2
Drill holes in the tops and bottoms of the CDs. Keep them on the colored part, avoiding the clear outer ring. Drill slowly and carefully--if you move too fast or use a heavy hand you could crack the CDs.

Thread your nylon or fishing reel through the holes you drilled, tying it off at each hole. Turn the CDs so that some face forward and some backward. You can tie them close together or farther apart, but make sure you stagger their placement on each thread so that they aren't lined up in a straight row when you hang them; this makes for a looser, more fun look. You can string beads between them if you wish, staggering them in the same way. Don't worry about measuring the distances between the different elements of each thread--it will look good if you just do it randomly.

Either tie your threads to a dowel rod and fix the rod to your window, or try the simple approach of tying the threads to screws and screwing them in. Enjoy the fun new look of your room!
