Instructions

    • 1

Color the backside of one large paper plate with black, gray and tan crayons to create coyote fur.

    • 2

Hold the plate to your face. Have someone else lightly draw where the eyes should go. Cut out two eye shapes from yellow construction paper. Glue the shapes on. Use a pen to punch holes in the centers of the yellow shapes.

    • 3

Cut around the edge of the bottom half of that same plate with a rough, jagged cut. Cut the bottom so overall it has a triangular shape. This will be the coyote's furry cheeks and chin.

    • 4

Cut a 2 1/2 to 3-inch square out of the bottom center of the paper plate. This will be the mouth.

    • 5

Color the front side of another paper plate with black, gray and tan crayons. Cut large diamond shapes out to make the ears. The ruffled edge of the paper plate will be the tips of the ears. Glue the ears to the top of the other paper plate. Glue them on to the backside of the mask.

    • 6

Cut a small, white paper cup in half. The bottom part of the cup will be used for the nose. Color it with black, gray and tan crayons.

    • 7

Cut out a 2 1/2 to 3-inch square from white construction paper. Cut one side with jagged tooth shapes. Glue the teeth to the inside rim of the paper cup. Fold them down.

    • 8

Cut out a black, triangular nose shape. Glue white or silver pipe cleaners to the back of the nose to create whiskers. Use three whiskers on each side of the nose. Glue the nose onto the bottom of the paper cup. Glue the paper cup just above the mouth so that the teeth point down and protrude into the mouth opening.

    • 9

Punch two holes on the opposite side edges of the mask. Thread and tie a piece of string or ribbon through each hole for tying the mask around your head.
