How to Grip Irons in Golf
The foundation of playing golf successfully is mastery of the fundamentals of the game. Even the smoothest of swings can fall apart if you are not gripping your club properly. By taking the time to properly address the ball every time you swing the club, you can find the consistency needed to find any flaws in your swing so that they can be remedied to shave strokes off of your score.

1
Place the head of the iron on the ground behind the ball, without touching the ball, so that the face of the club is pointed at the target.
-
2
Grab the grip of the club in your your non-dominant hand. Place the hand at the top of the grip so that your thumb runs down the length of the grip on the side of the shaft facing the ball and your remaining fingers wrap around the club.

3
Place your dominant hand down so that the base of the thumb covers the thumb of the non-dominant hand and your dominant thumb is also pointing down the shaft.
-
4
Wrap the remaining fingers of your dominant hand around the grip with the index, middle and ring fingers below your non-dominant hand, and the little finger between the index and middle fingers of your non-dominant hand.

Square your shoulders and feet to the target, squeeze your hands just tight enough to prevent the club from shifting in your hands, and swing.

Tips & Warnings
Adjusting your grip enables you to alter the flight of your shots. Turn your dominant hand forward so that the non-dominant thumb nestles closer to the palm of your dominant hand to draw the ball, making it move right to left. Turn your dominant hand back so that the dominant hand only partially obscures the non-dominant thumb to hit a fade, which bends from left to right.
