How to Stop Caffeine Headaches

Caffeine can be a nice pick-me-up in the morning, especially if you did not obtain the amount of sleep your body requires. However, if your body becomes dependent on the drug you can go through withdrawals once you quit (like any other drug). One of the main symptoms of going without caffeine after your body has become dependent on it is massive headaches, which can almost become as bad as a migraine.

Instructions

    • 1

Slowly wean yourself off of the caffeine drinks you consume. This means if you typically drink three cups of coffee in the morning, star drinking 2 1/2 the next week, 2 the week after and so on until you're down to about 1 cup of coffee a day. This is going to be low enough that if you do go a day without caffeine you won't have a headache.

    • 2

Drink a caffeinated drink if you do not want to cut yourself off of caffeine and you begin to feel a withdrawal headache coming up. Once the caffeine takes effect, the symptoms of the headache go away.

    • 3

Consume migraine medication. This is essentially extra strength Tylenol made to combat the severe headaches.

    • 4

Drink plenty of sugar-free liquids when you feel the headache. Your headache may be from your body becoming used to the sugar in the caffeinated drinks. Once your body has been cut off of the sugar, you can experience headaches also. Keeping your body hydrated can lessen the pain.
