How to Change the Workgroup Name
One of the most common complaints of those who purchase a new computer to use in a household where there are other computers is that the new machine is unable to share files with the existing ones. Typically, this happens because the computers are on different workgroups. A workgroup is used by a network of Windows-based computers in order to share resources. If your computers' workgroup names do not match, they will be unable to share files. Change your computers' workgroup names, making them match, to allow the computers to share files with one another.
