How to Glue in Nocks on Carbon Arrows

The nock is the small plastic tip that snaps on the bow string at the rear of the arrow. Sometimes, during shooting, these nocks get cracked or broken, other times it may be that you are customizing an arrow and need to change the position of the nock. This is common for archers using shoot-through arrow rests or shooting with a string release rather than their fingers. Gluing new nocks on a carbon fiber arrow is a simple project you can do at home.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any old nocks from the arrows. Hold the nock with a pair of pliers and use a twisting motion.

    • 2

Clean any old glue from the end of the arrow by lightly sanding it off with 400-grit sandpaper. Wipe off the sanding dust before applying any glue.

    • 3

Apply a small amount of arrow glue on the inside of the nock. Too much glue will only cause it to seep out around the edges of the nock.

    • 4

Slide the nock onto the arrow and turn it until the alignment nub on the side of the nock is aligned with the index fletch. The index fletch is the one off-colored fletch of feather on the arrow.

    • 5

Allow the arrow to dry. Most arrow glues set in minutes, but check the directions on the bottle to determine how long you need to let yours dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you seat the nock all the way onto the arrow or the arrow may not fly true.
