Instructions

  1. For Mask Invitations

    • 1

Prepare a design for the invitations. Begin by sketching out the actual mask of an Autobot or a Decepticon on card stock. Using a template image, sketch out the entire mask, from top and bottom, on a sheet of card stock. Cut out the template, and fold it in half.

    • 2

Sketch out the front design of the mask, using an available image online. Trim carefully to create all of the design details.

    • 3

Trim a piece of metallic crepe paper or aluminum foil to fit the front of the mask. Then, glue or attach this to the mask. Because the Transformers are machines that come to life, the metallic paper or foil will create the extra effect of metal on the invitation.

    • 4

Cut a piece of colored card stock to fit the inside of the mask. Select a color of card stock that you want to show through the eyes and other open details on the front of the mask. Write or print the invitation information, and then glue or otherwise attach this piece to the inside of the mask. If the party is themed around a certain Transformer-related activity, be sure to include this on the invitation. For example, if the party will focus on a special mission, mention this on the insider of the invitation.

    • 5

Design envelopes to fit the invitations. Card stock is an option, although it will be heavier and will likely add postage cost to the invitation. Consider using a sturdy craft paper, and trace out a design that will fit around the invitation. Depending on the size of the invitation, a square envelope will probably be easiest. Trace out and cut the shape of the envelope and then fold around the invitation to make sure it fits. Remove the invitation, and attach the sides and bottom of the envelope with craft glue, leaving the top open (so the invitation can fit inside). Place the invitation inside and address accordingly.

    For Square/Rectangle Invitations

    • 6

Sketch out squares or rectangles that are a little larger than the size you want to use for the invitation information. Make the sketch on card stock, and then cut out the template.

    • 7

Cover the entire front of the invitation with metallic crepe paper or aluminum foil. Attach with glue or other adhesive (not tape). Be sure to smooth it down to avoid any bubbling or creasing of the foil paper.

    • 8

Sketch out squares or rectangles that are smaller than the original squares or rectangles. Use the color of card stock that you want for the invitation information; make sure the invitation details are readable. This piece will go over the foil paper, so make sure it is not so large as to cover the foil altogether. You want the metallic paper to show around the sides of the invitation information.

    • 9

Attach the invitation details over the foil, and add clip art images from Transformers or Transformer-related stickers. One option might be to include images of the different shields of the Autobots and the Decepticons. If the party will include a themed activity, use the images that you add to indicate this.

    • 10

Design envelopes as indicated above, ensuring that the invitation fits securely into the envelope.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are using aluminum foil to decorate, consider using the thinnest variety available. Although the heavy foil will be less likely to crease, it will be more difficult to trim and manipulate on the invitations.
