Soak the wash cloth with the luke-warm water. Turn off the water.

    • 3

      Ring out the wash cloth.

    • 4

Stuff the wash cloth at the bottom of a drinking glass.

    • 5

Place the glass against your ear for five minutes.

    • 6

Place four to five drops of hydrogen peroxide in your ear with an eyedropper if the pain persists.

    • 7

Lay on your side for 15 minutes, with the ear in question facing the ceiling.

    • 8

Wipe up the excess hydrogen peroxide with a paper towel.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can simply use a hot washcloth directly against the ear for five minutes instead of the added step of using a glass if you prefer, creating a hot compress.

  • Mineral oil can be used in place of the hydrogen peroxide.

  • If your ear ache persists for more than a couple hours, visit your doctor as soon as you can. There may be a more serious problem at hand than an at-home remedy can cure.
