In a perfect world your toddler would go to bed at 8 p.m. and wake up at 9 a.m. It is safe to assume that this is not the case since you're reading this article. You are probably among the ranks of many sleep-deprived parents. Fear not, there is light at the end of the tunnel. With practice, consistency and a little tweaking, you will find what works for you and your little bundle of joy. Remember that not one child is the same, and each method may require multiple attempts.

Instructions

    • 1

Allow plenty of activity and exercise throughout the day. Keeping your toddler active
with plenty of outdoor play will naturally tire him out and promote a longer, good night's sleep.

    • 2

Shorten your toddler's naps. Maybe your toddler is getting too much sleep during the day. If this is the case, you will need to adjust your toddler's nap schedule because this is taking away from their nightly sleep quota. If your toddler normally takes two naps a day, cut it down to one nap a day. If he takes a three-hour nap cut it down to a hour and a half.

Make sure his room is quiet and dark. Close the blinds, the curtains and turn off the television. This helps to set the right mood for a restful, uninterrupted sleep.
