How to Make Your Own Candle Molds
You can create some unique and very creative candles by reusing containers as candle molds. Most any water tight container can be used to create candle molds with interesting textures and shapes.
Things You'll Need
- Candle making supplies
- a craft knife or sharp kitchen knife
- wire cutter or tin snips
- scissors
- plastic bottles
- Milk cartons
- soup cans
- tea tins
- any other water tight containers

When gathering your molds choose metal containers that have wide openings like tea tins and soup cans. Fill any dry goods containers like tea tins, with water to see if they leak. If the container leaks water it is not suitable to make candles.

When the candle has dried you can attempt to turn the mold upside down and shake the candle or out or you can cut and then rip the mold away from around the candle.

If you used metal containers they probably have a lip that will prevent the candle from shaking out. You will have to cut the container away with the tin snips or wire cutter. Be careful the cut metal will be very sharp!
