Instructions

    • 1

Place the paper plates so that the edges are together with opposite sides facing out.

    • 2

Staple the left and right top edges of the plates.

    • 3

Cut a "v" shape with rounded edges out of the top center of the plates. Create another "v" shape at the bottom of the plates, keeping the center left and right portions uncut.

    • 4

Staple the left and right edges down to the very bottom of the heart basket.

    • 5

Staple the ribbon to the top left and right sides of the heart to form a handle.

    • 6

Decorate the basket with the crayons, markers or poster paints.

Tips & Warnings

  • It may be easier to have the kids color the plates before stapling them together.

  • Creating a template for your heart shape and tracing it onto one of the plates to be cut---or passing it around to trace before cutting---can cut down on wasted paper plates if you're working with younger children or large groups.

  • Monitor younger children when working with staplers and scissors.
