Finding your Passion
-
1
Ask yourself some simple questions about what your goals are, what you would like to do for the rest of your life, what you enjoy, and what you would do even if you weren't getting paid. Take time to write these answers down. You may also want to consider what piqued your interest as a child because some find their passion early on, but let go of it later in life.
-
2
Take a step back and consider some of your personal interests, what you may have done that made you feel fulfilled while volunteering or even doing something in your spare time. Consider what you spend time reading about, what you like to do, and even just ask other people for ideas.
-
-
3
Write down your hobbies. It could be that you love to cook, raft, ski, you like to write or any number of things. Consider whether or not you can see yourself doing these things for a long period of time.
-
4
Try a few of the things that you have listed, whether it is a hobby, in volunteer work, or even a paid position. Get out and do it and pay attention to how you feel when you are trying these things, whether it is something new or an activity that you have never tried.
-
5
Talk with others who might have experience in an area that you are passionate about. Ask questions about what they like and dislike and discover what other people have found out about their passions. If you are questioning if this is what you are truly passionate about, try a few of the other things that you have listed.
-
6
Try different things and don't give up. It may take a few months to find your niche, but trying is the only thing that will bring you to your passion.
Once you have found that 'one thing,' follow your passion!

Tips & Warnings
Finding what you are passionate about is not necessarily an overnight process and can take time. Take as much time as you need to and trust your instincts. If you feel like you need to isolate yourself to think, away from distractions or even other people, take that time for yourself.
Don't dive in without having a small plan and don't expect an immediate answer. Give yourself the time that you need to discover your passion. If you enter into an activity at full force, try to take a step back or even take a vacation from the activity. Even something that you are passionate about can start to feel like a chore. Take time and be patient as you discover what you love.
