Paying with a Credit Card
-
1
Locate an online store that sells the item for which you are looking and takes the type of credit card you wish to use. Most online stores take Visa and MasterCard, and some take other cards as well, such as Discover and American Express.
-
2
Once you have added the item to your cart and gone through the checkout process, you will be presented with a screen that asks for your shipping and billing information. Enter your shipping address and billing address, and continue to the next page.
-
-
3
Enter your credit card information, including the credit card number, expiration date and the security code. The security code is usually a 3-digit number on the back of the card, except in the case of an American Express card, where it is a 4-digit number on the front of the card.
-
4
Submit your information, and your purchase will be complete. Your credit card statement will reflect this transaction in your next billing cycle, and online statements are usually updated within a few days.
Paying with PayPal
-
5
Locate an online store that sells an item you wish to purchase and accepts PayPal. For a large list of merchants that accept PayPal, you can look at PayPal's official website.
-
6
Once you have found the item you wish to purchase using PayPal, click the button in the online store that takes you to the PayPal purchase page.
-
7
Enter the email address and password on the PayPal.com purchase page that corresponds to your PayPal account, and press the "Submit" button. Be sure to look at the website in the URL bar and confirm that you are on www.paypal.com and not a fake site.
-
8
Confirm the amount you wish to pay, and confirm that you wish to pay it with the selected payment source (usually your PayPal balance).
-
9
Your order will be complete once you press the "Submit" button, and the debit to your PayPal account will show up immediately if you log in to your account at PayPal.com.
