How to Create a Personalized Background for an iPhone

Save

With the perpetual increase of iPhone users, it is becoming more common for there to be multiple iPhone users in the same home and workplace. While there are various ways to decorate the outside of the iPhone, it can still be quite easy to pick up the wrong phone, and the limited selection of default wallpaper backgrounds makes confusion even more likely. Luckily, there is a way to create a wallpaper background with a personalized banner to help identify the owner with one quick glance.

Things You'll Need

  • iPhone
  • Internet access
  • Photo-editing program
  • Find an image online or in your personal collection that you would like to use as your new wallpaper. Some websites, such as alliphonewallpapers.com, provide free images.

  • Save the image to your computer. If using a personal image, reduce the size of the image to approximately 320 pixels by 480 pixels.

  • Open the image with a photo-editing software program. Picasa is one free program that will offer many editing options.

  • With the image open in the editing software, make color adjustments or improvements if necessary, and then open a new text box just above the middle of the image. Placing the text here will ensure that it is not covered up by the default iPhone time/date banner. In the text box, enter the words you would like to appear in your personalized wallpaper, i.e. "John's Phone".

  • Save the image again on your computer. Open an email, and send the image to an email account you are able to access from your iPhone.

  • On your iPhone, open the email and download the image attachment. Open it from your camera roll and select the "Use as Wallpaper" option. The image will now appear on your home screen as your new wallpaper.
