How to Rate Sewing & Serger Machines
Ratings are a great way to allow customers to fully understand the value of various products. If you own or have owned a sewing or serger machine, you may be thinking of contributing your experience to a product listing. To properly rate the machine, there are a few aspects to consider.

1
Consider whether the machine has numerous problems with knotting or thread breakage. If the manual did not provide sufficient advice to troubleshoot the issue, this would vastly contribute to a poor rating.
-
2
Test whether your machine sews and/or cuts smoothly along various fabric types. This is an important part of the machine's purpose (providing professional results) and would greatly contribute to its rating.
-
-
3
Evaluate whether the machine has a user-friendly interface such as an LED screen, understandable symbols and threading steps marked on the machine itself. These unique features may impact your rating of the machine.
-
4
Weigh the machine. Although not a significant factor, a lightweight machine should deserve a slightly higher rating for its ease of portability.
-
5
Look for a top-loading bobbin. These machines tend to have a much easier bobbin loading process and deserve a higher rating.
-
6
Evaluate the speed control and tension adjustments. If the machine responds well and easily, the rating should be high.
-
7
For each step you analyzed, rate on a scale of 1 to 5 (unless the rating site uses a 1 to 10 range).
-
8
Add the ratings together and divide by the number of total ratings (6). Report your average as your rating.
