How to Make a Hanging Basket With a Coconut Liner

Outdoor flowers and plants add color and appeal to any home. One great way to add even more beauty to your garden is by hanging floral baskets. Not only do they look fantastic with cascading flowers or plants in them, but you can make one yourself--and it won't take too much time or money to do so.

Things You'll Need

• Wire basket
• 4 14-inch chains
• Small saucer
• Coconut liner
• Potting soil
• Cascading flowers or plants
• Hanger
• Wire cutters
• Pliers

Instructions

1. Attach the chains to the wire basket. Make sure to space the chains an equal length apart.

2. Place the saucer in to the bottom of the wire basket. The saucer will hold a small reserve of water in the basket.

3. Line the basket with the coconut liner. Cut the liner to be level with the basket if it is bigger than the basket.

4. Fill the basket a little more than halfway up with potting soil.

5. Add the flowers or plants to the basket and cover with the rest of the soil.

6. Cut the hanger with the wire cutters. Cut the hanger 3 1/2 inches down on each arm. With the pliers, twist each arm inward so they overlap in a circle.

7. Hook the end of the chain onto the wire circle cut from the hanger. Use the "hook" part of the cut hanger to hang your new hanging basket anywhere in your house or garden.
