How to Transplant a Wilting Tomato Plant
Tomato plants thrive in a full sun location with well-draining soil. There are some tomatoes that prefer container growing; these will need to be re-potted with fresh soil if you wish to change the environment. Tomatoes should be fertilized regularly and planted with 3 feet of space between plants for air circulation. While your wilting tomatoes could be experiencing a disease, it's more likely that they're unhappy with the soil quality, amount of soil nutrients or sun conditions. If you provide your wilted tomatoes plenty of sun and water and a well-draining and enriched soil, they should perk up. Does this Spark an idea?

Prepare your new garden bed to transplant the tomatoes. Turn over the soil to aerate it, remove any weeds or debris (such as rocks) that you find, and enrich the soil with potting soil or compost if desired.

Using your shovel, prepare a hole twice as wide as the root ball for each tomato plant you wish to transplant.

Grab the tomato plant at the base and pull gently to remove it from its current location. If your tomatoes are planted in plastic garden containers, you can invert these and pop the tomato plant out.

Place the plant in the new hole and cover over with dirt. Don't pack the dirt down.

Water the transplanted tomato. This will compact the soil and remove air bubbles.

Prepare fish emulsion by combining 1 tbsp. of fish emulsion with 1 gallon of water. Spray tomato plants at their base with the fish emulsion, which provides a dose of phosphates and nitrogen to your tomato plants.

Transplant your tomatoes in the evening or on a cloudy day to avoid heat stress.
Water and apply fish emulsion in the early morning or evening and not during midday heat.
