How to Measure for Floor Linoleum Tiles
Linoleum is durable, easy to install and, depending on the size of the room, relatively inexpensive as compared to other types of flooring, such as hardwood. Linoleum floors are also extremely easy to care for and clean. These factors make linoleum tile a perfect choice of flooring for high traffic areas like breezeways, mudrooms, kitchens and bathrooms. The way you measure for linoleum tile is straightforward and easy enough to do by yourself. All you really need is one tool. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

-
1
Measure the length of the room. Choose the longest part of the room. Stand at one end, and walk the measuring tape down to the other end.
-
2
Measure the width of the room. Starting at the widest part of the room, walk the measuring tape down the entire width of the room.
-
-
3
Multiply the length times the width. This gives you the total square footage of the room.
-
4
Add 10 percent to your total. For rooms with things like cabinets and bathtubs, you won't be using the entire piece of linoleum tile. You must add 10 percent to make sure you have enough tiles to cover the entire room and to account for mistakes.

Tips & Warnings
Always measure twice. Do this to ensure you have an accurate measurement of the room and that the store has enough of the style of linoleum tile you want.
Choose a part of the room where there are no impediments. Measuring over things like bathtubs or counters and cabinets may give you an inaccurate measurement.
Avoid buying your linoleum flooring at different times. Stores sometimes run out of stock, and when the new stock comes in, things like color and pattern can vary slightly.
