How to Rig Cigar Weights for Fishing
The cigar weight is generally used when fishing a rocky or hard-sand bottom. This type of weight is also ideal in fast-moving waters when the angler wants to float light bait into the water column. In saltwater trolling, the cigar weight will tend to hold a lure down, making a better presentation to fast-moving subsurface feeders, such as Spanish mackerel and wahoo. Tackle to create this rig can be found at local tackle shops and in bargain quantities at many online stores.

1
Tie the first swivel to the monofilament line using a cinch/blood knot. To tie the knot, pass the line through the eye swivel, double back and make five or six turns around the line, pass the end through the first loop above the eye of the swivel, then through the larger loop created. Pass the end of the line through the first loop by the eye of the swivel and draw the knot into shape, sliding the coils tightly against the eye of the swivel.
