How to Take an Amana Front Load Washer Apart
The Amana front loading washer cleans better than many top loaders. It is also energy-efficient and uses less water. They also require repair from time to time, especially after the warranty expires. Disconnect the power cord of the Maytag Amana front load washer from the wall outlet. Pull the washer away from the wall 3 feet to allow access behind the unit. Turn the water supply off at the wall spigots.

Set a bucket under the area where the water supply hoses connect to the back of the Amana washer. Disconnect the water hoses by first using a pair of pliers to loosen the connections and then twisting the hoses off by hand. Place the ends of the water hoses inside the bucket.

Remove the two screws on the back of the Amana washer that secure the top panel to the rear of the washer with a socket wrench. Lift up on the rear of the top section and slide the top section toward the back wall. After the front of the top section clears the retaining screw, lift the top section off of the washer.

Go to the front of the Amana washer and pull out the dispenser drawer on the left hand side of the washer. Press in on the rear locking tab of the drawer with your thumb and pull the drawer completely out of the washer.

Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the five screws that connect the control console to the washer. There are four screws at the top of the console and one screw to the left of the dispenser drawer opening. Roll the control console to the top of the washer. Disconnect the large reactor wire harness from the retaining clip and pull the connector out of the rear of the control console.

Open the Amana washer door and remove the clamp that secures the rubber boot to the front of the door opening. Insert a pair of needle nose pliers under the boot at the 6 o'clock position and pull out the spring clamp. Use a flathead screwdriver to expand the spring and remove the clamp.

Grab the rubber boot with your fingers and pull the boot off of the front lip of the door opening. Reach inside the washer and disconnect the wiring harness from the door lock and switch. Lift the plastic locking tab and pull the harness away from the door switch.

Remove the four screws at the top of the front panel that secure the panel to the washer cabinet with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Grab the front panel with both hands and lift up to remove the panel from the lower tabs. Set the panel out of the way.
