How to Play Multiple Characters in Wow
The "World of Warcraft" online game allows you to create many different characters quite easily. You might be a savage orc for one session and a mischievous gnome for the next. You also can set up multiple "WoW" accounts and, if you have multiple computers, can play more than one character at once. The process is known as "multiboxing."
Things You'll Need
- PC or Mac computers
- "World of Warcraft" software
- Multiplexer
- "World of Warcraft" accounts

1
Check your computer or computers to make sure you meet the hardware and software requirements. You also need a copy of the "World of Warcraft" software package for each computer and a multiplexer, a device that allows you to control multiple computers from one keyboard.

2
Create accounts for each character you want to run, then create characters for each account. Select one character to be your primary character, the leader of your group. You can then key the other characters to follow him.

3
Log on to the game using each account. Use your lead character and invite another character to join him by typing "/invite," followed by the character's name. Have the character accept the invitation by clicking "Accept." Repeat the process for each character you want to use.

4
Press "Escape," then hit "Macros" on any account besides the lead character. This allows you to create abbreviated commands to control each character. A common macro is Follow, which you can create by clicking the "Macro Command" function and typing /follow plus the name of your lead character. The supporting character will then follow the leader wherever he goes.
-
5
Repeat the process for the other characters, then tailor other macros to fine-tune your party's response time. The WoW Wiki has good suggestions for the kind of macros you can use.

Tips & Warnings
You can use one computer to handle all of your accounts, but make sure its hardware is up to spec.
Some players don't like multiboxing, so expect to receive a lot of grief from them if you're spotted. But Blizzard Entertainment has signed off on the practice. It is perfectly legal to enjoy the game in this fashion, so long as all of your accounts are paid and you don't violate any of the other rules.
