How to Bake Potatoes on Rock Salt

Rock salt, the large crystals used for making ice cream, can also be used to bake potatoes. The salt makes the potatoes fluffy. If you are pressed for time, you can microwave a potato briefly, then finish it in the oven. Microwaving for two to three minutes can reduce baking time by 20 to 25 minutes. Potatoes baked in rock salt are a classic steakhouse accompaniment, so serve your potato with a grilled or broiled steak and creamed spinach. Does this Spark an idea?
