How to Paint Upholstery With Jacquard Textile Paint
Jaquard paints are known for their high quality and ease of use. Generally, they are used for their excellent results on apparel fabric. However, they can also be employed to achieve excellent results on upholstery fabrics. This project calls for Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow, a water-based acrylic fabric paint.

Decide what color/design you will use for your upholstery. Determine what hues you will need to complete your design.

Purchase the Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow fabric paint in the appropriate colors from your local fabric store or an Internet site, such as FabricstoDyeFor.com

Mix the paints to achieve your desired color.

Use the brush to paint the upholstery. Allow to dry.

Apply a second layer if needed. Continue to apply additional layers until you have achieved the desired paint concentration.

Use a small iron (dry) at the appropriate fabric setting to heat-set the paint upon the upholstery.

Tips & Warnings
As alternative to heat-setting the paint, Jacquard offers a product called Airfix, which is added to the paint just prior to application. The company notes that Airfix should be used if the furniture is to be washed.
Dye-Na-Fix can be used in conjunction with Jacquard's other fabric paints--all water-based acrylic--which include Textile Colors, Lumiere and Neopaque.
