How to Seal a Garage
-
1
Purchase professional-grade concrete cleaner and a concrete waterproofing sealer. Popular brands include Quikrete, Rustoleum and Thompson's. These items are available at any local hardware store or online.
-
2
Clean your garage floor. With a hose and stiff bristle broom, scrub the floor with cleaner. If there are grease and oil stains, use a degreaser such as Thompson's WaterSeal Concrete Care Cleaner & Degreaser, closely following all of the manufacturer's instructions. Let the cleaner soak in for a half an hour, then repeat as needed for deep and dark stains.

Pour your sealer into in a large paint tray. Cut in the corners with a paintbrush and then roll the remainder of the garage floor with a paint roller. For ease of use, try a roller attached to a long handle. Be sure to start in the back of the garage and work your way out.

Clean up brush, roller and tray quickly with warm soapy water, as the sealer will permanently damage tools if not washed out. Do not apply a second coat.
