1
Measure the width of your bed. Purchase two drapery rods in that measurement, or rods that can be adjusted to fit the width of the bed.
-
2
Install a drapery rod, according to the rod manufacturer's instructions, on the ceiling over the foot of the bed. Position it so that it runs parallel to the foot of the bed.
-
-
3
Install the second drapery rod above the head of the bead, at the corner where the ceiling meets the wall.
-
4
Measure the distance from the floor to the ceiling, and from the head of the bed to the foot of the bed. Add those measurements together. Take that measurement, long with the rod length, with you when purchasing fabric. These are the dimensions for the canopy fabric piece.
-
5
Purchase fabric that you want to use for the canopy in your room. Ask the store clerk to cut the fabric to the measurements you have from your room.
-
6
Sew a basic hem all the way around your fabric with your sewing machine. Drape the fabric over your drapery rods, across the ceiling over the bed and behind the bed.
