How to Send a Beach Chair Via UPS

UPS offers their customers several ways to send a package, even bulky items like a beach chair. UPS makes it convenient for you to ship items from the comfort of your own home using their online service. You can also take your item to one of the 4,400 UPS stores available in the United States, where an associate will measure, weigh and package the item for you. If you decide to use the at-home method to ship your beach chair, you will find that with the right materials and a few guidelines, shipping a beach chair is no harder than mailing a letter.

Instructions

1. Package the beach chair. When you find or purchase a box large enough to fit your beach chair, ensure that there is enough space around each side to cushion it with packing paper or newspaper. Black out existing labels on the box by using a permanent marker. Once you have secured the beach chair in the box with the packing paper, seal the box with shipping tape.

2. Measure and weigh the box. Using the tape measure, write down the height, width and length of the box. If you don't have a scale used for weighing boxes, weigh yourself on your bathroom scale, and then weigh yourself again holding the box. Subtract the two results from each other. This is not the most accurate method, but it will give a close enough estimate when entering the details on the website.

3. Register for an account. Log onto the UPS website and click the "Register" button found at the top of the screen under the "Log-In" drop-down option. You will be prompted to enter a username, password, and your phone and address information. You can also enter your credit card information before you proceed, but this can be done later when you are ready to confirm your shipment.

4. Click the "Shipping" tab once you are registered, and select the "Create a New Shipment" option. Enter the address of where you are sending the beach chair, the weight and dimensions of the box, the type of shipping service you would like to use, such as ground or next-day air, and your payment information.

5. Review your shipment details. When you are ready to submit your shipment information, click "Ship Now" to schedule a pickup day and time. You also have the option to drop off your ready-to-ship package at a nearby UPS Store.

6. Finalize your shipment. Once you have scheduled a date and time, a label is generated for you to print. Use paper with adhesive backing to ensure the label is secured on the package. Your beach chair is now ready for pickup or drop off.
