How to Use Pressure Points to Stop Nosebleeds

You may not know this, but you have pressure points located all over your body. Sometimes all it takes to eliminate a problem when pain acts up or you have a sudden nosebleed is to apply pressure to a certain area. Since your nose is located on your face, to stop a nosebleed, you will be applying pressure to a specific point on the nose.

Instructions

    • 1

Pinch against the facial bone directly under the bridge of your nose. This pressure point helps the blood begin to clot where there was a rupture inside of your nose.

    • 2

Lean your head forward to prevent blood from dripping down your throat. People typically lean their heads back to end the bleeding, but that only causes the blood to run down your throat. Blood will actually irritate your stomach and cause nausea or a burning sensation.
If you must tilt your head back, do not tilt it too far. Make it just enough so that the blood does not continue to drip.

    • 3

Place a cotton swab under your nose to catch any blood from dripping.

    • 4

Keep pinching for several minutes until the blood has stopped running.

Tips & Warnings

  • Seek medical attention if the nosebleed does not stop after 10 to 15 minutes.
