How to Repair a Lawn Sprinkler Hose Line

Find and expose the leak. Turn on your sprinkler system and wait a few minutes until you see water puddling on your lawn, then turn the system off. This will normally be the area of the leak. Use a shovel to dig down and expose the leaking sprinkler line.

Use a utility saw to make two cuts. Each cut should be an inch beyond the leak.

Use a rag to thoroughly clean and dry both sides of the existing pipe at the cuts.

Apply PVC glue to the outside of the sprinkler line and the inside of one side of the telescoping couplings. Slide the telescoping coupling onto the irrigation line and twist. Glue the other side of the sprinkler line and at the telescoping coupling. Extend the telescoping coupling and slide it on the other sprinkler hose line. Allow the glue to dry for several minutes.

Turn on the irrigation system and check for leaks. Cover the area with the dirt that was excavated.
