How to Kill a Camel Cricket

A camel cricket does not chirp, and it likes to hide in the same locations as field crickets: in crevices and basements. Camel crickets got their name from their humpback appearance. They have long, thin legs and are marble-like in appearance. These crickets do not bite or sting, but they will eat any kind of decaying matter, furs and linens. Several people who have come across camel crickets have reported stepping on them to try to kill them, only to go back later to find that the cricket has disappeared. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Spray wasp foam killer on any crickets you find. Once dead, place cricket bodies in your trash.

    • 2

Purchase weatherstripping from your hardware store. Place along the bottom of doors and around windows to seal out moisture.

    • 3

Load your caulk gun. Seal off any cracks in your foundation and along your basement walls. Again, the goal is to keep moisture out.

    • 4

Put on your yard gloves, and remove any leaves or debris from around the foundation of your home. Move any firewood away from your home.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never let children play with insecticide. If ingested, call your doctor or poison-control center immediately.
