How to Use Baby Powder in Hair to Get Rid of Greasiness

Save

Washing hair every day is actually not good for your hair and can strip it of natural oils that keep it healthy and shiny. Skipping a shampoo every once and a while sometimes leave hair oily and greasy, however. A little bit of baby powder can be used to reduce the greasiness and oil in hair so it doesn't have to be washed every day.

Things You'll Need

  • Baby powder
  • Shake a small amount of baby powder in your hand. Start with one small shake. It would be about the equivalent of a 1/2 teaspoon of baby powder.

  • Rub hands together. It is best to do this over a sink so the baby powder does not fall on the floor, which can make it slippery. Don't rub hands together tightly, but just enough to distribute the baby powder on both hands.

  • Scrunch the roots of hair with hands so the baby powder is worked into the greasiest part of the roots. Continue scrunching hair until the baby powder is no longer visible.

  • Repeat this process if the hair is still oily and greasy.

  • Proceed to style hair as usual.

Tips & Warnings

  • Start out with very small amounts of baby powder. Using too much can make hair look white or powdery.
