Things You'll Need:
- Internet
- Dating Service Subscription
-
Step 1
Select an online dating service. You can select one dating service or two. I tried 2 services and eventually decided on just one internet dating service. How do you select a dating service? Think about what is most important to you. If you are a Christian and you can only date other Christians, then you may want to choose one of the Christian internet dating services. There are so many different online dating services that you will be able to find one that fits your needs. There are gay dating services, Ivy League dating service, Latino dating services, etc. There are also dating services that focus on compatibility (you know the ones that make you fill out a long questionnaire when you sign up). So pick the one that you think is right for you. If you are not happy with that service then you can sign up for another. You can take advantage of the free trial periods to evaluate different sights.
-
Step 2
Now that you have selected a service you will need to fill out their questionnaire/survey. Answer these questions honestly. Don't exaggerate and do not lie. You need your profile to represent who you are.
-
Step 3
Now you are ready to start looking for potential dates. Depending on the service you select, you will be able to browse through profiles for potential dates.
-
Step 4
The first step to making contact is to start emailing. You may email back and forth for a while. This is where you ask the most crucial questions. If someone makes a bad impression through email, drop him or her. There are plenty of fish in the sea.
-
Step 5
If you still want to continue communication with this person, you can start by Chatting on the phone. Make sure to use cell phones and use security precautions. Don't give out your last name right away.
-
Step 6
If the phone calls go well, you are ready for a face to face meeting. Meet for coffee. Meeting for coffee allows you to leave early if you do not like this person. Think of it as a pre-date.
-
Step 7
If coffee goes well, go on a real date. Now you are ready to go out to a full meal. Meet your date at the restaurant. Use common sense. Safety first.
-
Step 8
Decide if you want to pursue a second date. Now is the time to evaluate your date. Do you feel comfortable with him or her? Use your instincts. If you do not feel comfortable, move on to the next person.
-
Step 9
Keep in mind that you are meeting strangers. Do not give out your information to everyone. Use your cell phone when calling your dates. Do not give out your last name, work information, childrens' names, etc.

on 1/7/2010 Would like to add that its helpful to leave a note at home where you are going, who you are meeting and what website you met them from, if something should happen to you.
