  1. Step 1

    Treat bronchitis and coughing problems. Licorice can rid lungs of mucus and is used to treat problems such as bronchitis, relieve coughs and sore throats, many cough lozenges and syrups use licorice as flavoring and as a cough suppressant for better health.

  2. Step 2

    Cure ulcers. Licorice root has a synthetic form used regularly to prevent and treat stomach ulcers. Many health care providers have used deglycyrrhizinated licorice to treat gastric ulcers whose results are absolutely positive hence enhancing the pumping of the blood in the body.

  3. Step 3

    Protect the stomach lining from damage. Licorice has been found effective in reducing the ability of the stomach acid to damage the stomach lining by encouraging digestive mucosal tissues to protect them from acid. This improves the stomach lining and reduces damage from stomach acid.

  4. Step 4

    Use licorice to treat hepatitis. Research indicates that the use of licorice can be very effective in treating both chronic and acute hepatitis. The compound glycyrrhizin in licorice has been found efficient in treating both hepatitis B and hepatitis C in patients.

  5. Step 5

    Alleviate and treat Addison's diseases. The active ingredient in licorice is the chemical compound glycyrrhizin. It is antiviral, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and antispasmodic, as well as expectorant and a mild laxative useful in stimulating the adrenal glands which helps in solving problems such as Addison's disease.
