Things You'll Need:
- make up
- some time to practice
- moisturizer
- mirror
-
Step 1
First look at yourself in the mirror. Do you see wrinkles? That is ok. As we grow older we get wrinkles. The sun can damage our skin and give us wrinkles too. In fact, I used to worry about this before and try all sorts of anti wrinkle products but for me they never worked. Now instead of using creams, I use make up to enhance my looks and soon you will too.
-
Step 2
Look at yourself in the mirror again. Is your skin dry and peeling? If it is go drink some water and add some moisturizer on your face. Let your face absorb it so your skin looks like a better canvas to work with.
-
Step 3
Now that your face is ready for some make up go ahead and pick up your concealer. Use your concealer to cover spots: sun damage, old age spots..e.t.c.. Then use your finger tip and gently massage in the concealer to cover your faults. Use the concealer to cover dark areas of your skin or even to highlight the bridge of your nose if you want to make your nose appear taller. Now take some powdered foundation and pat it gently on the areas. Study your face. The color you used should look even with your skin tone. You should not look blotchy, your skin should all look as if you have no make up on.
-
Step 4
Your face an even skin tone now needs some dressing up. If you would like your nose to appear thinner, use some light brown eyeshadow or bronze blush and simply put a little color on around the top of the bridge of your nose and the crevice of your eyes which point to the top of the bridge of your nose. The trick here is to blend this color to make it look like a shadow and pull it down around your nose to define it so it looks thinner. If this is missing something and you want to define your nose more look at step 5.
-
Step 5
This is for those of you that want to make their nose a bit more upturned so you can have that young baby nose look that is said to be one of the desired features in a woman.
Take your light brown eyeshadow and dab a little now on the under part of your nose around your nostrils. You will be making a little heart shape there. Now rub that in so that it doesn't look like your nose is dirty. You just want to create a light shadow there so your nose appears to be more upturned and cute looking. -
Step 6
At this point you must be saying, "Ok, I love it, but what about the eyes?" So, now we are going to talk about the eyes. Your eyes are really based on your individual preference. The idea is to make them look big and young looking but not overly made up. So, the trick is to go for the natural look or diva-esque if you are going out at night.
To go for either look, start by using your usual shadow color and brush it on your lids. Take a look. How did that change you? Now you can add some highlighting sparkling shadow under your brow arch and see what difference that made. If you feel that is enough for today, leave it. If you feel your eyes don't look so amazing because you are tired, use some eyeliner and outline your eyes on the inside of your lower lid and your upper lid without making it look like you have a lot of black paint up there. It needs to look natural remember.
If you want your eye lids to look a little Bettie Davis like make sure you don't line them too much on the upper lid since that would make the lids look thinner and the lashes look fuller.
If you want your eyes to look more cat like and upturned, use some extra eyeliner on the outer corners of your eyes to give that illusion. -
Step 7
Now we are on to the lips. The lips are once again based on your individual shape. If your lips are not symmetrical, go ahead and use a lip liner to add on to the lip that is not proportional with the other side of the lip. You will put lipstick on and a lipstick sealer if you want to keep that look.
If you want your lips to look plump, just use your lip liner to draw the top of your lips where they are shaped like a heart and gently draw in some color so the heart shape looks less like a heart and closer to a straight line with just a hint of that heart shape left up top. Now use a lip liner to outline just the bottom curve of your lower lip and rub it in so that it doesn't look too obvious.
Lip gloss will make your lips shine, and you are done. -
Step 8
For those of you that like wearing false eyelashes, go for it. I wore those things early on and since it took me so long to put them on I just don't anymore; as a mom I just get too busy.
False eyelashes can really enhance an eye though, I wore some for my wedding and loved them. The individual lashes on the bottom can give you that cute 60's look too.
Make up is so much fun. Just have fun with it and make yourself look beautiful.
