How to Take Free Online Courses from Carnegie Mellon

Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh is a private research institute founded in 1900. It has seven schools and colleges, including the college of fine arts, school of computer science and the college of humanities and social sciences. The university also offers continuing education programs granting degrees and certificates, and has an Open Learning Initiative providing free online courses to let you learn at your own pace.       Click "Open and Free Courses" on the menu options. Review the courses offered and the brief description under each course heading.

      Click "Join Class" or "Peek In" under the course title. Selecting "Join Class" takes you to the sign-in page. Click "Sign In" at the top of the page. Click "Sign Up Now!" to create a new account. If you are a student at the university, use your ID and password. Click "Sign In" to begin your online course.

      Selecting "Peek In" generates a list of the concepts and theories you will learn. This gives you a sneak preview of the course content. Click "Test and Configure" at the top of the page to test your computer system and ensure it meets the system requirements. When the check is complete, go to the sign-in page and create an account. Enter your ID and password, and click "Sign In" to initiate your online learning session.
