When renting an apartment, it’s important to find apartment renters insurance. Just like car insurance, insurance for your dwelling, be it an apartment, condo, or house, is key to protecting your possessions. Renters insurance coverage also protects you against liability if a guest has an accident while at your apartment.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide what coverage you need. You will need to determine an estimate of the value of your possessions inside your apartment. This includes furniture; electronics like televisions, computers, stereos, MP3 players, etc.; clothing; jewelry; and other valuables.

Another part of insurance coverage is liability insurance to protect you in case someone was injured while at your apartment.

  2. Step 2

Contact your insurance agent where you have automobile insurance coverage. Often you receive a discount when buying a second type of insurance with the same company. Check the rates and coverage with your existing insurance company.

  3. Step 3

Check online for insurance quotes for apartment renters insurance. It’s possible to get an idea of what you’ll have to pay for coverage by providing some basic information online. Then you can compare insurance quotes and coverage to make an informed decision.
