Look for companies that are newer to the area and are experiencing growth, those are the once that will be more interested in receiving non solicited resumes. I always looked through the newspaper for stories on non profit organizations, when I saw a really good story or a company that kept showing up week after week I knew to start a contact with that business. To find established companies that will hire at home grant writers look for companies with ongoing public awareness campaigns. They are the ones that will need the most grant writers and many only seek grant writers with a home office.

   There are millions of charities that rely heavily on grant writers. National know charities should be sought after for a more stable work environment because nationally known charities can afford to hire grant writers on staff. If seeking to work with a smaller charity or grass routes organization prepare to have limited work or work with more organizations.

When you start to get a known name in the grant writing industry you may then raise your rates to what they are in a normal office, and then to above the previous rate.
