Shepherd’s Pie is a complete meal, and there is no middle ground with this dish you either love it or hate it. The following recipe makes for about six to eight servings.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 package of gravy mix
  • 2 cups of water
  • 3 cups of mixed vegetables (carrots and peas)
  • thawed if frozen or fresh
  • 1 teaspoon of thyme
  • 2 pounds of mashed potatoes
  • 2 teaspoons of melted margarine
  1. Step 1

First thing is to preheat the oven at 425 degrees Fahrenheit and in the meantime get the ground beef in a large skillet which is sprayed with a non stick spray and cook it over medium heat.

  2. Step 2

Add onion to the skillet and cook for about five minutes stirring occasionally.

  3. Step 3

Then add the gravy mix, the four cups of water and the mixed vegetables and once it comes to a boil lower the heat to low and simmer for about seven minutes. Then add salt and pepper and set it aside.

  4. Step 4

At this point get the beef mixture and put in a casserole (greased) and add the mashed potatoes and drizzle with the melted margarine. Bake for twenty to twenty five minutes before serving.
