Step 1
Research the companies in your area that regularly hire temporary or seasonal help. Department stores and delivery companies need extra workers during the holidays. Accounting firms need extra help at tax time. Watch the employment pages of the newspaper for announcements, talk to friends and people you know about what is happening at their companies. Hang out at places that business people frequent to hear what they are talking about. All of these things could put you in the right place at the right time to hear about that opportunity that could lead to a permanent job.

Step 2
Look for a temporary job or seasonal work with a company that you love. If you love a company; what it does, the products it provides, its corporate mission and the way it treats its employees, you will be much more likely to show enthusiasm in your work and work harder. Both of those traits are attractive to employers. When they let go of their extra employees, they are much more likely to keep you on and offer you a permanent position.
-
Step 3
Distinguish yourself. Do everything better than your co-workers; work harder, show more enthusiasm, be on time and say yes to every request. Give the company a reason to consider you over all of the other competition.
-
Step 4
Don’t be afraid to volunteer. Choose a charity you truly believe in. If you are currently out of work, this is a great way to fill your time, by helping others. Most all charities have paid administrative positions. If you show yourself to be committed to the cause and to have skills or ideas that can advance the mission of the charity, there is a very good chance that you could be offered a permanent job with them.
