Amethyst crystals are quartz crystals used for healing and meditation. Cleansing your crystal amethyst is essential to assure energy purity and appropriate use of the stone. Amethyst crystals can be cleansed in purified water and sea salt.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Use a basic cleansing technique to clean your amethyst crystals. Hold one or two stones in your hand under running water. This loosens surface dirt and superficial negative energy.

  2. Step 2

Place your amethyst crystals in a wooden, glass, ceramic or copper bowl. According to the website, EnergyHealingInfo.com, wiccans like to use silver bowls, if possible. Cover the stones with distilled water. Energy Healing Info recommends adding one tablespoon of sea salt to the water. Sea salt acts as a natural scrub and is safe for amethysts (see reference 1).

  3. Step 3

Once the crystals are immersed in water, set the bowl on soil or grass, not on a man-made floor. Energy Healing Info suggests placing the bowl beneath a favorite tree near the trunk. Allow the stones to cleanse for at least 24 hours. If you can perform the cleansing during a full moon, leave the stones outside until the next full moon (see reference 1).

  4. Step 4

When the proper amount of time has passed, retrieve the bowl. Remove each stone, rinsing any residual salt under running water. According to Energy Healing Info, running water also removes any negative energy, which remained in the soaking water.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cleanse crystals when new, discolored or if exposed to negative energy.
