How to Get Rid of the Lotus Notes Toolbar in Microsoft Excel

You can customize Microsoft Excel with add-ins that enable compatibility between Excel and non-Microsoft software applications. Add-ins for Lotus applications such as Notes, Connections, Sametime and Domino appear in Microsoft Office applications as toolbars. If you have added a Lotus toolbar to Excel and no longer want to use it, you can get rid of the Lotus toolbar by disabling the Lotus add-in.

Instructions

    Disabling the Lotus Toolbar in Excel 2003

  1. Step 1

    Open Excel. Click the "Tools" link in the Excel menu bar, and then select "Add-Ins" in the drop-down menu. This opens the Add-Ins dialog box.

  2. Step 2

    Click to remove the checkmark from the checkbox next to "Lotus Toolbar" in the add-ins list. Click the "OK" button to accept the change and close the Add-Ins dialog box.

  3. Step 3

    Close and then restart Excel. The Lotus toolbar should no longer appear.

  4. Disabling the Lotus Toolbar in Excel 2007

  5. Step 1

    Open Excel. Click the "Microsoft Office" button in the Excel menu bar, and then click the "Excel Options" button in the drop-down menu. This opens the Excel Options dialog box.

  6. Step 2

    Click the "Add-Ins" icon in the left-hand navigation pane.

  7. Step 3

    Locate the Lotus toolbar add-in that you want to disable in the Add-ins box and note its type. Select that type of add-in the drop-down menu next to the "Manage" box, and then click "Go." This opens the Add-Ins dialog box.

  8. Step 4

    Clear the checkbox for the Lotus add-in that you want to disable, and then click OK. This removes the Lotus toolbar add-in.

Tips & Warnings
  • The directions described apply only to Microsoft Office Excel 2003 and Microsoft Office Excel 2007.
  • Different directions apply for different versions of Microsoft Office Excel.
