How to Neutralize Pet Odor in Cement
Pet feces, vomit and urine odors don't clean easily out of cement. Regular cleaners can help remove much of the visible stains, but odor will often remain, as cement is porous. Neutralizing this odor, with the help of special products, is the only way to effectively rid the cement of pet odor, permanently. Pet odor neutralizers break down (and, in a way, digest) biological compounds that cause recurring odor. The products are easy to use and most are non-toxic to people and pets.

- Rubber gloves
- Paper towels
- Water
- Fan
- Enzyme-based pet odor cleaner
- Sponges or sponge mop

Put on a pair of rubber gloves. Use damp paper towels to remove leftover pet feces, vomit or urine from the cement. Scrub the area with water-soaked sponges to loosen as much of the stain from the cement as possible.

Sop up the dirty water with paper towels and dispose of these in an outdoor trash bin. Turn a fan on in the room to help the floor dry.

Spray or pour an enzyme-based pet odor neutralizer/cleaner over the areas the pet has soiled. If the odor is present, but you found no visible feces, vomit, or urine, spray the product generously over the entire cement surface.

Work the product in with a sponge or sponge mop. Spray or pour more of the odor neutralizer over the cement, lightly covering it. Leave it on, undisturbed, overnight. Unless the brand you buy states otherwise, these cleaners should not be rinsed off.

Tips & Warnings
Some enzymatic products work best at room temperature (around 75 degrees F) and won't work as efficiently at very warm or very cold temperatures. It will usually state on the label if this is a factor you must consider.
For some especially difficult odors, such as cat spray, you may need to scrub the cement more than once with the enzymatic cleaner, or apply more.
Avoid using other cleaning products before, during or after using the enzymatic cleaner--these reduce the efficiency of the enzymes to break down the odor.
