How to Remove the Cabinet From an Amana Dryer
The Maytag Amana dryer is a reliable appliance and a great addition to any home laundry room. However, over time, parts will wear out and need to be replaced. If you are an Amana dryer owner, it is a good idea to know how to remove the cabinet from an Amana dryer. When the cabinet is removed, all of the working parts inside the dryer are fully accessible. Things You'll Need
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Towel
- Masking tape
- Needle nose pliers
- Putty knife
- Nut driver

Disconnect the power cord of the Amana dryer from the dryer wall outlet. Pull the dryer 3-feet away from the back wall to access the rear of the dryer.

Pull the cycle selector knob and control knobs off of the front of the control console. Remove the three screws on top of the control console with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Lay a towel across the top of the dryer to protect the finish and pull the control console forward to lay the face of the console on the towel.

Place small pieces of masking tape on the individual wires and wiring connectors and mark them in pencil what the wire locations are. Disconnect the wires from the components inside the control console. Remove individual wires by grabbing the metal leads at the component terminals with needle nose pliers and pull the wires off of the terminal. Press locking tabs together with your fingers to disengage wiring harnesses from components. Move the control console out of the work area and set the towel aside.

Locate the retaining spring clips securing the top panel to the front panel by inserting, from the front of the Amana dryer, a putty knife blade between the two panels 4-inches from each corner. Press in on each retaining clip while lifting that corner of the top panel. Go to the rear of the dryer and use a nut driver to remove the screws to the two hinge clips that secure the top panel to the rear panel. Lift off the top panel and set it aside.

Go to the front of the Amana dryer and locate the door switch inside the front right corner of the dryer. Press the locking tabs in with your fingers and pull the wiring connector away from the door switch. Remove the two securing screws, one on each side, that connect the top of the front panel to the side panels. The screws are at each corner toward the inside top of the dryer. Lift the front panel up to release the bottom tabs and set the front panel away from the work area.

Tips & Warnings
The components within the Amana dryer are completely accessible. The sides are molded to the dryer base. The rear panel should not be removed.
Always disconnect appliances from their power source before attempting repairs.

Importan Update for affected models- 1.5 On some models like the Amana LG8319W2 gas dryer, the front panels are locator pinned from bottom to top. First remove the two screws on lower curved in surface of the lower front panel and tip it out and down to disengage the locator pins. Next remove the upper front panel screws and disengage the locator pins from the top dryer cover. Revealed at this point are the two front cover corner screw holdowns. Remove the two screws, releasing the top cover. Now move on to step 2.
