How to Clean Grip Tape
Grip tape is a sandpaper-style adhesive-backed tape often applied to skateboards and longboards to help riders grip and steer the boards. The tape normally comes in black. Some skaters buy custom grip tape or create their own designs with multiple colors. However, because of the sandpaper-like texture, the grip tape often becomes so dirty you can no longer see its original color. Before you decide to buy new grip tape for your board, try cleaning it first.

If the grip tape is still dirty, go to a hardware store and buy one bar of sandpaper cleaner. It resembles an eraser. Lay your board flat and run the sandpaper cleaner down the grip tape carefully in a back-and-forth motion until it's clean.
