A beautiful Swarovski crystal captures sunlight and refracts it back in myriad rainbows that dance across a room. These crystals are popular in kitchen windows and bedroom windows but can be just as lovely casting colorful light into a den. In order to take full advantage of the crystal's qualities, it should be hung in a window that receives the sun's full strength. An eastern exposure would bring in morning rainbows, and a western exposure would bring in evening ones.

Things You'll Need:

  • Swarovski crystal
  • Suction with hook or cup hook
  • Nylon string
  1. Step 1

Select a window that receives full sunlight for the part of the day you desire. If you have shade trees outside, their presence may affect the amount of sun filtering through your crystal.

  2. Step 2

Press the suction cup with hook onto the glass window. Or, alternatively, take the screw-backed cup hook and screw it into the wooden header along the top of the window frame. If the area is not wood, but is drywall and/or plaster, you should insert a wall anchor in with the hook so it won't pull out. In positioning the cup hook, the hook will hang downward. With a suction cup hook, the hook will protrude off the side of the suction cup.

  3. Step 3

Run the nylon string through the hole in the crystal and tie it off in a loop. Tie it securely. Normally, this string is provided with the crystal and may even already be threaded through and tied.

  4. Step 4

Hang the loop of nylon string on the hook so that the crystal dangles in front of the window.
